Country Days – 2 ‘Ethiopia’
Country Days were organized with the introduction of the Ethiopian country, an East African country, located in the Horn of Africa.
In her speech, TAŞÇI stated that they started to sign many social and cultural programs and added: “We have two goals in making these programs. We have close to 8 thousand students on the international platform. Our one aim is to introduce our country and university to our students.” Assoc. Dr. Taşçı gave historical information about Ethiopia and ended his speech by emphasizing that Ethiopia is a country that resists colonialism and maintains justice.
Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Mahmut AK expressed his happiness of presenting this event, organized within the scope of Country Days with the opportunity to get to know different cultures closely. He said: “Ethiopian students of our university are also a source of hope for our country. We have about 500 students from 43 different countries from Africa. After graduation, these students will present their equipment for the benefit of their own country. When we visit these countries, we see our graduates in important positions and decision-making points and we are proud of them.”
Consul General gave informations about Ethiopia and said “It’s really important to consociate with Turkey form my country. I believe that today, we will continue to expand the horizons of our cooperation which will continue in the coming years and will establish the necessary basis for furthering our relationship.” and ended his speech.
Rector of Istanbul University Prof. Dr. Mahmut AK, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia Mr. Hassen Mussa Atıyb and many students attended the event.
Ethiopian students exhibited the materials of Ethiopian culture at the stands during the event by presenting their countries culturally and socially.
At the end of the program, local tastes specific to Ethiopia were presented to the guests.
